2019 is coming to a close as we arrive upon December, and the time to get involved in the community this year is winding down fast. Fortunately, there are tons of exciting and noteworthy events taking place in the coming weeks. Be sure to mark the following four events down on your calendar as you and your loved ones are not going to want to miss out on the fun.
Annual Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting (December 6th)
The Annual Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting in Murfreesboro will take place on December 6th at 6:00 PM at the Historic Downtown Square in Murfreesboro. The cost of admission is free, and kids and adults alike are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The event will feature live music and entertainment, an appearance of Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the lighting of the Official Rutherford County Christmas Tree. It is the perfect weekend opportunity to get out of the house with your family, friends or significant other and interact with the wonderful Murfreesboro and surrounding community.
Rutherford County Christmas Parade (December 8th)
The Annual Rutherford County Christman Parade takes place two days after the tree lighting on Sunday, Dember 8th. The parade will start at 2:00 PM and the admission is free for everyone. The parade will begin on East Main Street near Middle Tennessee State University and will travel around the square, through West Main Street and will end on Walnut Street. The theme for this year’s parade is the “Sounds of Christmas,” and it is a great opportunity to kick the Christmas spirit into full gear and support the city of Murfreesboro and its community.
11th Annual Frosty Fun Run (December 14th)
Come out and show your support at the 11th Annual Frosty Fun Run this Saturday, December 14th. Proceeds go towards children charities, and there is no timer - only fun! You can choose between the two-mile and four and a half mile route, and the race begins at 7:00 AM(race day registration begins at 6:00 AM). It is encouraged to signup before the race for $35, although you can signup the day of the race as well for $40. After the race, there will be waffles, hot chocolate, coffee and more! The race will take place at Stones River Country Club off NW Broad Street in Murfreesboro.
Shimmer and Shine NYE (December 31st)
It is now the month of December, which means it is the last time to get involved with the community in 2019. The Pyramid Foundation of Tennessee will host the Shimmer and Shine NYE event on New Year’s Eve from 9 PM to 2:00 AM. The event will take place at the Double Tree Hotel in Murfreesboro, and the proceeds for the event will go towards mental health. The cost of admission is $55(for a worthy cause), and it certain to be a great time for everyone who comes. 2020 is going to be a great year, and there is no better way to start it off than by supporting the fight towards better mental health.
